To Brumate or Not To Brumate?

i have not bred corns before and was wondering on the different opinions of whether to brumate or not to?

i would be grateful of any opinions?

ie:

total clutch numbers
numbers of slugs

I don't brumate animals that are still not yet breeding size, females that didn't recover their prelay condition and animals whose health would be compromised by the shutdown. Everyone else goes down the basement. It's a nice break from feeding and cleaning chores.

I'm just worried about the whole brumating idea. is there anyone here that breeds there corns without brumation, would a slight cooler period in the winter achieve the same thing.

does anyone have a set timetable as such which they run through every year with regards to breeding I.E. 1st jan do ... and so on?

I breed without brumating. So far this year I've had 4 clutches - 71 eggs total, of which 4 were slugs.

Still expecting one more first clutch, and there will probably be two or three second clutches. The proportion of slugs tends to be a bit higher in second clutches.
