A Cheers and Jeers Thread....

I started a new job the other day, I test construction materials BTW, as I exited the truck a huge Gopher Tortoise hole greeted me. I said to the General Contractor and I quote, "They're letting you build here?" He asked why and I told him about the plight of the Gopher etc. To my surprise the first queston was, "Who do I call about relocating her?"
This company builds car dealerships all over the country and this gentleman was not from Florida. He was very concerned about the Gopher and wanted her moved. As I looked at the hole it appeared to have been used recently but not that morning. I explained they come out every day and perform housecleaning. I told him if the hole had not changed on my next visit, she was no longer there. And that is the case. She was moved prior to construction. But I was very pleased with this GC and wanted to pass his deeds along. I E-mailed his company and I'm putting the info up for anyone else who may want to as well.

And now the Jeers....

Lisa's store or franchise was recently sold. Those of you who don't know her she worked at Petland....in the Lakeland Square Mall. Nothing but puppies. The folks who bought the store know nothing. They fired everybody but her. She set them up with a good rabbit breeder, took them to bird shows and showed them the right birds and how to hand feed and care for them, difference between rats, hamsters, and gerbils just a ton of stuff.
Then sh*t started going South.
Employees at Petland work on commission. Employees then started working less hours. They totally omitted breaks (I'm sure is a no-no) When they were there they were given menial tasks. Long story short, the owners were selling the puppies.
Lisa's hours were dwindled to 16 a week. The pervious owners didn't mind my daughter being at the store. Neither did the new ones, at first. But Sunday they used Kenzie as an exuse to fire Lisa.
Florida is a work-at-will blah, blah, blah I know. And they have every right to do it. If it were me I'd let it go. It has put Lisa back into post pardom depression again. If they were going to do it, do it when ya take over. I can understand that. But to use her, *#@& her and not kiss her.
Well I E-mailed them as well and told them how crappy the situation was handled. Never liked them anyway.
Oh ya, feel free to mail Petland was well.:fullauto:

Although he'll probably never see this, Kudos Chuck! Most people just follow orders, follow plans. He heard your story, understood, and was willing to give it time and thought.

I'll second the cheer and the jeer! Nothing like people who care about all aspects of their work, not just the $$!
