ok im getting an 08 hatchling very soon and was wondering how long would i have to wait till i could put it into my fourty gallon aquarium, cause i dont want it to have to much space and stress out cause of that

Divide the tank in half or thirds so it doesnt feel so "open". But have your viv already set up for when he gets home so youre not making continual changes after he gets home. You'll need to leave him alone for like a week with no handling/feeding so he is able to settle in to his new surroundings. Its very very hard but its very very important!

The only reason we really cite hatchlings as being really stressed in large containers is if:
-It's their personality some snake owners have just seen that some of their snakes prefer the snugger habitats go figure.
-Theres not enough hides and ground cover.

Just as long as you provide the snake with plenty of appropriate (snug to the snake) sized hides (more than just one on each end) the snake should be just fine.
Just realize that it might be like finding a needle in a haystack with such a small corn though. Good luck!
