exotera/zoomed heater/heating concern/rock

Yes me with another question thanks for your patience
I have exotera terrarium for my corns now I have had the heaters stuck on the bottom of the glass on the outside with the green reptile carpet stuff over top and aspen over that. I havent had it plugged in as the temp is around 75 in the room. When talking to my bf he was concerned about glass cracking due to heat as well as fire hazard due to aspen being wood all I wanted to know from him is if he could connect a thermostat I didnt know I was going to get the whole 3d degree about starting fires lol. anyways is this safe I mean both the terrarium and heat pad are meant for reptiles and aspen or bark is the common substrate right? He did bring up a good point he said to put a rock (not a heat rock) over the area of the heat pad and it will reduce the chances of snakes getting over heated (which was my original concern) as well as his concern for the place going up in flames. I do believe that an ordinary aquarium safe ornamental flat rock will absorb the heat. Please correct me if I am wrong and could someone
verify the safety or unsafety of the products I am using as the temp will not be perfect as fall approaches up here in the north.
Also if somesorta rock will absorb the heat
thanks

As long as you have the UTH plugged into a thermostat there is very very little chance of the glass cracking or any fires starting..Now don't get me wrong it is possible for wires to go faulty and start some sparks but that is not a common occurance..As for getting a rock to cover the heated area..I think it should work okay but I think then you would have to have the heat mat become even more warm so it can warm the rock enough for the snake to be comfortable ..so in the end your going even hotter with the pad because of the rock..without the rock you can just let the pad sit under the glass (make sure it's lifted slightly off the ground to allow air to flow under the mat, this prevents the mat from over heating and can help prevent the wires from faulting out) and plug it in to a thermostat and your good to go..Hope this helps..

It would take more than the heat pad to start the aspen on fire. The temperatures needed to start wood far exceeds what is put out by the heat pad.
