Road Rescue... Hillsdale County, Mich. (Eastern Milk)...

I was on vacation from the 4th of July to the 14th of July at the lake in Hillsdale County, Mich. & was coming back from a beer run when there was a snake cruisin' across the road. I looked behind me and saw a car coming and pulled over and turned around. When I got back to the snake I thought the car behind me had beaten me to it. After "tailing" the animal and after closer inspection I think the car missed him but another animal had tried to make a meal of him. My Son & I took him back to the lake for Photos and then released him the next day. I was tempted to keep him for a while to let him heal but decided it was better to let nature take care of it instead. This is the first eastern milk I've seen in this area much less caught so I was pretty stoked. I thought it was a bit thin for 34" (measured) but it was in blue so figured it hadn't eaten in a while. I apologize for the crappy pics, it's funny how sometimes they look better on the camera, but a different story when you upload them to the pc. I was using my son's camera and i'm not used to it, ha, next time i'll use my own..Thanx for Lookin'!.. Marshall P...

That really cool. I'm glad you were able to rescue him. I live in western michigan and have never found anything more then a few garter snakes. Great find.

Wow. That looks like quite the pretty little snakey you found there. Funny enough, I'm in MN and have never even seen a wild snake. I need to get out more. Ha ha. Good thing I have 14 to keep me busy in the house (including 9 pippies). You did a better job than I would have with my daughter's camera. I don't have a clue. It looks like you and your son had a fun time with it. Cool.
