Exo Terra Snake Hide

Sarynkitamo

<3 Corn Snakes
I got one of these babies when I was last down island, but only recently put it in Jasper's viv the other night, putting some of the provided moss in and spritzing it with water.

I went to check on her today since I had a feeling she was going to shed (I was correct. She's in the blue! And moody as hell.) and wanted to try and make sure I've got the humidity right. I take out the Snake Hide I bought since she obviously hasn't been inside the damp, dark area and pop the top on it.

To my very great surprise some of the moss has spider webs on it! Now this was dried stuff until I moistened it, so I'm not entirely sure what it is. Could be the local baby spiders found their way in somehow. Dumped the stuff just in case, scrubbed the hide out and put in some shredded paper towel instead. Moistened it with the spritzer, too. Good thing she hadn't gone in it (although with I disagreeistance, she's now chilling inside it)

Anyone have any idea what this might've been? Mites? I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary on her at all. Or maybe just sub-standard moss from ExoTerra?

I'm not sure. I didn't look too closely, but that kinda does look like it...

Mites or Mold, I'm glad I removed that stuff, though.
