Do you house the male and female mice together? I just got a male and female and they are together and are fighting with eachother. What should I do?

leave them to it for a while but after a few hours if they are still fighting sep them and try again in a few day. Mine faught when I first put them together but now they are best of buddies and breeding really well.

When starting up a new colony, I put the male in breeding cage for a week by self. His smell is in cage. I then introduce the females into his cage. It's not their cage being invaded by a stranger. I have not had any problems with fighting. No males injured or killed. Hope this helps. Good luck.

From what I've seen it's the male picking on the female not the female attacking him.

Try providing 2 separate nesting boxes at different ends of cage. Maybe he wants to mate and she is not ready. If you are setting up a colony, you need at least 3 females to 1 male. If that doesn't work and he is biting her you need to separate them and try again as suggested above.

Okay thank you I will try the 2 hids, if that doesn't work then they may end up as snake food which is what they were supposed to be, but they where tan and I thought they were cute and decided to use them as breeders but if they don't get along then they may be food.
