Mitsu (GBB) progression thread!

Nomed

Aimez le monstre.
"He" was introduced
here
.

"He" is a green bottle blue spiderling. I'm going to use this thread to post updates on "him" so you reading and myself can keep track of "him" and watch "him" grow!

first molt!!!

Today Mitsu surprised me by molting! I had no idea he was going to do it! I misted him in the afternoon then went back in a few hours and found him out of his old exoskeleton! I'm happy to see that he did well and I cant wait to start feeding him in a week. :]

I will take more photos later when he finishes up and gets back on his feet :]

Too kewl! Congrats on the hatchling and the successful molt.

I had some T's before, but had to give them all up (wife and kids really, REALLY didn't like them). Now, I focus on the corn snakes, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate our 8-legged friends.

Hope to see more pics soon! You have any more T's? My favorites are the Poecilotheria (the Ornamentals).

Thanks, but I did not hatch him lol! I got him from Corey Greene (xchondrox around the tarantula forums) I got him one week ago so this is his first molt with me. :]

Aw that stinks :[ haha maybe you should try to get them to fall in love with a rosy, it worked for my mom lol!

You def. will see more photos soon :] once he is back on his feet I'm going to snap some photos and steal his old exoskeleton (he wont be happy with that LOL) At the moment I only have one other tarantula, my 5.5"+ G. Rosea named Penelope, who is going to molt soon :D I'm getting a male juvi. P. Murinus from one of my good friends soon. :] I'm still pretty new to tarantula keeping so my collection will grow more over time. :)

That's kewl that you're gonna get an Usambara... just be careful! Quick and vicious! I remember thinking mine had died in its burrow. When I stuck a pencil in to see if it was alive, it didn't respond - at first - then it came roaring out of the tunnel. The only thing that kept me from being bitten was the fact that my hands kept the lid open. When I flinched (IN FEAR) back, the lid fell back down and kept him from getting me. LOL. I still remember that like it was yesterday.

Show pics when you get him!

Fred

WOOT! Yay, I couldn't see "him" grow.
Congrats on first molt! Your T makes me want to get myself one also,
but yeah, girlfriend wouldn't let me.....Darn it! lol

My daughter had a rose-haired that got out because the darn cat knocked the top off it's cage. She's getting another one in September after we move to our new place, because a friend of hers moved and couldn't take his T with him. She'll be stoked to see pics of your baby I'm sure of it. Can't wait to see progressions of your baby as he grows. Thanks for sharing him with us.

haha Fred I know they are faassstt little demons! Thankfully it did not get you (or get out for that matter lol!) their venom is horrible, but they are such a gorgeous t, who can help but to want one? LOL

Thanks Toshiro :] I just saw your thread on steve, shes SO CUTE!!!!!!

JoshnJJ, just sneak one lol Ts are awesome!! :D I hope she at least likes your corns, my ex girlfriend hated my corn snakes and BP, and well things did not work out. XD

Aw snakemom thats so cute! I'm glad to hear she is getting a new baby ts really are a great 'pet' they are easy to take care of and so much fun to watch! :]

Just a heads up mate. From a few friends who have been keeping Tarantulas for a long while now(around 10+ years) I was told that the GBB are very humidity intolerant. They require a very dry viv generally, and will die quickly if kept in humid environment. I imagine you know that, I am just making sure after seeing your comment about misting "Him"

Awesome! I love watching the GBB's grow. My Xanadu is just really starting to grow into his colors. Its so exciting!

SnakesRule1234, I am keeping him on coconut fiber (eco-earth stuff) you buy it as a block then use water to expand it then let it dry.

Koko, since he is a sling he needs his enclosure sprayed so he can drink (but I'm sure you know that). I put a zillion holes in his jar so the water evaporates completely usually with in under one day, and I always mist the opposite side that he is on, just so the wall will have beads he can drink.

Thanks Jynx! I'm happy to hear your little one is starting to become a blue beauty! :]

Well hes been growing quickly! He LOVES to eat! He is now also showing off how fast he can move! :D
I LOVEEE THIS LITTLE SPIDER TO PIECES! Everyone needs 340 of them!
Here are some photos from feeding last night! :D

Gee, Brian! Seeing your litte one makes me want to go and get another T! LOL. That'll NEVER happen though! LOL.

I love the markings on both the carapace and the abdomen. Too kewl. Do you know when it'll turn "blue/green"?

Thank you Fred :]
I'm not sure when he will start really changing. As much as I'm looking forward to it, I think he looks awesome like this! :D

Thank you Nanci! :D

Yay! He molted again! I can't believe how different he looks! His legs are starting to turn blue (and getting longer!!) also his carapace is getting a little darker, and his rump is developing some more pattern! :D

Here is a quick (really crappy) photo I took, I'll get more later. :]
