My two fancy mice have finally had babies, they are a week old now and seem to be doing fine all but one that I found dead in the cage today, it looks like she must have been feeding it when she wondered away from the nest, there was 2 out but one I put back to the nest.

Sorry the pic was taken on my mobi.

I know and these ones are in my daughters room so I have been able to keep and eye on them, this is her second litter the first she really didnt know what she was doing and I found the last litter all over the place two half eaten but she was in with another female which has now been fed off as she had 2 chances and ate both litters.

Ok problem they are dying one by one we have gone from 5 down to 2, one seemed to be a runt and very tiny so I can understand that but I just cant understand why they are dying maybe they are not getting enough milk, the two remaining ones are really fat.

Are you certain that the one you removed wasnt actually the mother? I have a couple colonies and theres no way you would be able to tell sometimes which is the mother, some of the nanies even go as far as the spralled out letting the lil ones eat posture.

the one I took out def wasnt the mum she was removed before this litter was born, the last two are doing really well and are nice and fat, I think the mum is very small anyway so maybe she isnt cut out to be a mum, the babies are nice and big and both girls so will keep them instead for breeding
