RUBs (Really Useful Boxes)

torsten

Too many yet too few!!!
hi

what size boxes would you recommend for corns? i was thinking of using the 50L or 63L(slightly taller) for adults, which do you recommend?

Would royals be ok in these?

i was thinking of using the 9L A4/40 to grow the corns on until they are adults, is this ok? would the gap around the top between the lid and box need filling for hatchlings?(please say if you have experiance with the RUBs?
Would royals be ok in these?

wouyld hatchling corns be ok to be put into 2.1L or 3L RUBs or is that to small? how long could they live in one for?

thanks

Don´t know if you got an ikea near you.
I normaly use the smallest "smala" boxes for growin corns.
The 11L ones for growing bp.
Ans the "komplement" under bed ones for the adults workin fine
up to now!

I use 5 ltrs for 20-50 gram corns
9ltrs for 50-100 gram corns
18ltrs for 100-200 gram corns
and 50 or 64 depending on whether they actually like to climb (as the 50 and the 64 both have the exact same floor space) for anything over 200 grams.

hi tula,

i was reckoning on using 9L until the snake is ~200g (would that be about 2 years old?)
would hatchlings be able to escape through the gap around the lid of these?

and then transfer them into 50 or 64L (have not decided which yet)

Would Royals be ok in 9L and then upgraded to 50L RUBs as well?

I wouldn't... I use 5lts for well grown on hatchlings then sometimes move them into an 18lts. I wouldn't let a 200 gram snake sit in a 9ltr, deffinatley not enough space.

At 200 grams I would put them straight into their adult tubs.

what age/size would you transfer royals/corns from 9L boxes into the 50/64L?

will the gap between the box and the lid need filling in the 9L boxes to stop hatchlings escaping or is the gap to small to worry about.

Hi.

Complete beginner here.Need some advice on RUBS.I have two corn snakes that are now big enough to be transferred to a RUB.So I am guessing that you need to use heat mats for these?Any particular ones I should get?

Any advice would be very gratefully received, thanks.

I think the gap would be to big as even my yearling can poke his nose in the crack. A regulat sterilite or rubbermade would great. i would use the RUB for bigger snakes as the gap also adds more ventilation. They are really useful boxes though lol. Good luck

cheverton for your question I would suggest getting a heat cable so that you can heat both boxes with the same cable and have enough to heat more if you get more snakes. It is also cheaper as you are buying one cable vrs. 2 UTH. I wish I had known about the heat cable earlier. Hope this helps
