Is there an easy way to remove tree bark?

I have some branches I saved to use in my vivs. Unfortunately, the bark is proving to be quite a PITA. Anyone know of an easy way to accomplish this? I'm wondering if baking it FIRST would help it flake off easier?

Any tips, as always, are greatly appreciated.

What kind of wood is it? Was it dead when you cut it or live?

I think drying it out (oven) might help.

If you know anyone who uses or can get sand blasting done, thats the way forward.....
you don't want metal shot though, it rips the wood to bits.... Garnet or sand works the best.....

Hmm when I did this I didn't bake it first as I thought the moisture between the bark and the wood (?) helped to strip it.. if it was dry, it might chip off in small parts. I am really only guessing though.

It'll hopefully be like sellotape, once you've found got the end started it should peel off in fairly large strips. Failing that, sandpaper?

Wade, it's dead, but newly so. I'm baking it now because I'm too Type Ultra A to actually wait for proper responses. I hope you're right in that it does help!

Mike, I don't have access to a sand blaster, but these are tiny branches for a roughly two week old rosy boa. I'd tear the twigs to bits, but I WILL keep that in mind for the larger pieces I have picked out for my 6' tank, thanks!


Tracee - I wish it was like cello tape but it's on there pretty tight. I will probably go the sand paper route if the oven doesn't loosen it up.
