Hola! Ibizan herping!

diamondlil

Mice! They taste so nice!
I've uploaded and re-sized some of my holiday pics after a few hours sleep (got back @830 because of flight delays).
I had hundreds of sightings of Ibizan wall lizards this week, after I realised that they don't generally hang out in picturesque settings. Instead I had to tramp through undergrowth and hang out around rubbish dumps to get good pictures of the lively little darlings. I saw babies of 1-2" right up to the biggest ones I'd estimate at 8". We didn't get to go on the planned boat trip to Formentara, where the subspecies is a spectacular turquoise (the sea was too rough for the ferry that day), but I was more than happy in herping heaven.

Awww those are adoreable! I have only herped abroad once. I caught some wee geckos in TX and kept them for a few days. They were sweet wee things, but FAST!

They hung out at the porch light every night.

The lizards are celebrated in pictures, prints, ceramics etc for tourists, and I couldn't resist bringing home a silver lizard I found in Evissa town, in the artisans' shops!

Love little lizards!! That bracelet is too cool too!

We have California Alligator Lizards here. They always make me smile when I see them

Ooh, they sound great, can you get some pictures of them?

Thanks Heather! I know I could google and find that sort of lizard on the www, but seeing pictures taken by forum members in real life is so much cooler!

You know Heather, that's not an Alligator lizard.. :poke::p

Well Dang..

Well, that one may not be (are you sure??), but I have other pics that are...

That's just the first one I found in my Photobucket.

What, pray tell, is that one, then?

That's a fence swift or a spiny lizard (not sure which) what we call locally 'blue bellies'.. One of the sceloperous species.. We do have the alligator lizards too, and I'm sure you do to since you're pretty close to me... Here's some pics of them. I'll get a picture of one next time I visit my sister in Long Beach, she's got a back yard full of them. They are easy to catch too, just offer one of the big ones your finger and they'll usually take hold, lol.

That'd be great, Tom. In fact, I could be cheeky and ask you to do a whole thread on the surroundings and any herps, birds, wildlife and plants there......

Other than an occasional Rattler, thats what you see most out here! I'm a big fan of the collards personally
