Hey all. So sunday I got my first snake. Hes a normal corn snake that i named Dameian. My mom and dad finally cracked after 4 years and let me get one haha. Anyways like i said this is my first snake. Right now hes in a 10 gal with a UTH. With the UTH and a light the temp under the substrate was getting to 91F. I have a digital thermometer that i buried in the warm end. I was told that that was to hot. So i turned the light off and now its reading 83-85F. The light a blue light i dont have a day light yet. Does he need the light if the UTH alone is getting it to 83-84F? Oh and I got him to eat yesterday. Right now hes eating frozen pinkies. I figured since I fed him monday the next time I should feed him is thursday. Right? thanks

He doesn't need light at all.

If you fed yesterday, the next time to feed is Saturday. You should not handle him until then, at all, because he really should have had a week to settle in before feeding. The minimum time to wait, after feeding, before handling, is 48 hours and if you still see or feel a lump after that time, then wait another 24 hours.

Ok thanks. Only thing is Im going to be out of town friday and saturday and get back sunday. Should I wait then and feed him monday?
