Hi there. Not sure where you are in SE Mich, but I've seen a few at Bloomer Park in Rochester. Not sure what they were though. I was so excited to see them that it didn't occur to me to try and identify them. Even in my own yard I've seen some interesting critters, such as a humungous salamander under my dog's house. I had never seen a salamander that was the size of my forearm before. Freaked me right the heck out. Good luck!

i didnt think we had salamanders in MI! o wow i think i need to do some research.

There are plenty of salamanders and newts in michigan. My daughters use to find them all the time when we would take them up north on vacation.

As far as finding snakes. Look under logs and debris. You'll likely find garter snakes and possiblie red bellies. We also have milk and black rat snakes.

Here's a good website that shows the different species of snakes we have here in michigan.

Hope this helps.
