How much Substrate

I use reptibark for my corn,

What's the minimum amount I can use that's still okay?

Just enough to not see the bottom? a half inch?

Aspen is softer and nicer to burrow in. I use two or three inches.

This is about what I do too, and in one of the corners I pile it up a little thicker than that. Mine likes to burrow a lot over on that side of the tank.

I did just drop it down to about 1 inch now on the warm side of the tank. It's been right at freezing down here for the last two nights, so I want to make sure the warm side of the tank is not as well insulated from the UHT. We keep our thermostat in the house a little lower than most in the winter (65-68), so I needed to compenstate a little for her.

I keep my thermostat at 64 at night and when I'm not home, 68 when I'm home. I sort of figured that if the UTH was well-insulated, it would hold heat, and the snake could always go find it...

I use bark chips. I work on one inch depth as a minimum. It allows the liquid bits of poop to drain to the floor, keeping it out of contact with the snake as much as possible until I have a chance to clean it up. Mine seem to know when I leave the house for uni - they clearly let rip about half an hour after I've performed morning Poop Patrol and gone out!

Also, I think I remember my UTH instructions saying not to cover it with more than an inch of substrate.
