Like half repti-bark and half something else?

Is it possible to do like mostly repti-bark, then a smaller area of reptile flooring/carpet that won't have to be changed out as often as the bark (assuming he doesnt pee or poo on it).

Anybody have suggestions?
 
What are you trying to achieve by doing this? Aesthetics? Or just less cleaning...? Sounds like it would be a pain in the butt to me, but i don't see a problem with it. Hell, you could use as many types of suitable substrate as you wanted.....but why would you want to?
 
Because bark looks really sweet/smells good/holds humidity well but is expensive and a pain to keep clean.
Also sometimes it's too humid, and some snakes need humid zones and dry zones.
I just keep the snakes all on aspen in unusually large tubs, then have a smaller tub inside it with a lid on it and a hole cut in the side with moist substrate like bark, bed-a-beast, or peat moss.
Some snakes like moist hides, but pretty much all will use it during shed.

Aspen is the way to go with corns - its cheap, easy to clean, not to humid and provides ample oppurtunities to burrow.

You could use multiple types of substrate but i suspec the snake would just mess it up by knocking the aspen/bark whatever onto the carpet...
 
I use repi-bark and aspen. I use the repi-bark mostly under the aspen right above my UTH to help absorb the heat from the heater. I also use some on top of the aspen around my wood furniture to help it stay in place and to give my snake different textures to explore.
 
yeah i have reptile bark mixed with some other stuff like little rocks. i bought mine at a pet supermarket and it's called like jungle substrate.
 
I don't think the original poster was talking about a mixture you buy, but mixing it yourself, which is what I did. Of course, I was doing it in a 10gal tank. Perhaps it would work better in a bigger thank.
 
I actually have one corner on the warm side of my 20-gallon viv covered with craft felt (the rest is aspen) and Simon really seems to like the felt. He never poops on it either - only in one of the aspen corners. The entire felt sheet was 20 cents at walmart, and I folded it up over some newspaper and put one of his hides on it. So, as long as you don't mind cleaning the felt or carpeting if/when the snake does poop on it, I'd say go for it.
