Under the Water Bowl? Why??

My 1.5 year old got a new tank and now she just loves to curl up under her water bowl. Sometimes half under, half out. Is she just weird?? :)

do you got a hide on the warm and cold side off her cage?
when she thinks temperature is best under there she will get under there make shure you get enough hides on diferent places.

Nope... It actually happens quite a bit. If you don't like it, try getting a heavier water bowl that sits directly on the bottom of the enclosure (to prevent accidental crushing). Also provide more hides and possibly "better" hides where the snake will feel as comfortable as it does "under the water bowl".

However, there's really nothing wrong with it being under the water bowl as long as it can't get accidentally crushed.

I get some of mine water bowls with a cut-out just for them to hide in.

I have something similiar for Gunn that's in the middle of his tank that he tends to prefer unless he's thinking about shedding and then he's into his moss hide that he has 24/7.

Kieran went through a stage when he went under his waterbowl too... it's a heavy sucker but his Aspen was heavy enough that he could tunnel under it. It's hard for 5'5" of snake to hide under a bowl, but he thought he was... I didn't point out that 2/3rds of him was sticking out the back of it.

She's got a nice warm hide and a nice cool hide. She never goes in the cool hide, just variates from the warm hide to under the dish. Glad to know she's not the only one. Thanks.

i buy dog bowls like the picture above for some of my snakes... they LOVE the hide... i like the fact its a hide and water bowl in one :)

I just picked her up from under the dish and she is pretty cold. Is that ok?

As long as she has access to a warm side, it's up to her which side she wants on... what is cool to us, is not so cool to them, so your sense isn't something to depend on.

Unless we are talking about heat... lukewarm to us is much warmer to them... there is concern if you touch say glass and it feels very warm or hot tot he touch.

I have a lot of snakes that love hiding under the water bowl. Especially if they can make an elaborate burrow under it, which I am careful not to destroy when I change the water.

mine does this but i mess the tunnels up when i change the water, i figure it gives him something to do when im gone.

Completely normal. All my yearlings and hatchlings actually seem to prefer their water dish unless their digesting.

I wreck it, or flatten it out, on purpose. Gives them something to do for a couple days!

My new corn is doing this too, I ve seen it at work and I wasn't concerned, what is puzzling me however, after the feed on Monday, its hiding under the dish again and hasn't pooped yet, it hid on the warm side last feeding. Mind you being in the room locked up downstairs until Christmas, it may feel the vibrations of us coming down the stairs and high tail it under there. Temp on the warm side 86* BTW.
