Feeder Size to Growth

I was just wondering...may sound kind of dumb, but...

Say I am following the Munson Plan for my 21gm LTR...2-3gm pinkies every 5-6 days. My snake would be consuming approx. 6grams a week, but how much of that sticks? I don't imagine he actually grows by 6 grams a week just because he is eating that...so does anyone know how much actually stays with the snake?
I have a scale and after feeding him soon, and weighing a few days later, I guess I could answer this for myself...but I was just wondering...

Thanks!

In my (very limited) experience, my snakes keep about half of the weight of each food item--give or take.

I do have one very active snake who doesn't keep as much on, but I'm sure it's because she works more of it off. And of course, each snake is going to be different because, just like in humans, there's a wide range of natural variation.

Hi, I raise show mice, they get a higher quality food instead of just rodent blocks or pellets. The mice grow fast, pinks are chubbs and the snakes have grown quickly and are nice and bright.

If your interested in changing your rodent feed try blue seal horse "Rider" and mix it with a standard Cockatiel diet and some rolled oats like even Quaker old fashion oats you find in the cereal section in the cans if you can't get the big 50lb bags at the feed store. **Depends on how much rodents you feed and how many snakes you feed. That's just my base mix because I show them I have loads more I add, but it does do so much better for not only the mice but the snakes who eat them. They also seam to produce more on a higher diet. I also add the blocks every other day as mice seam to want to eat everyday. I also offer broken up puppy kibble into the diet for more protein and calcium. The oatmeal and the puppy food is also good for lactating moms and babies always have milk filled bellies. ***Be sure the puppy kibble is a good brand and not different colors "IE: greens, reds," I just stick with the common biscuit colors and I use Pedigree puppy.

What you are feeding your snake should also be well taken care of and thought of for the circle of life goes round ;)

Hope that helps some and offers idea's for others too :)
