Russian tortoise & vacation

We will be going on vacation at the end of March to visit my parants for a week. Our neighbor will feed & water our birds while we are gone, the snake & spiders will be fed before we go. It is an 8 hr drive. We dont feel that we should ask our neighbor to take care of the birds plus the tortoise
I was thinking of getting a 10 gallon tank to keep it in on the ride & think it will be fine for a week in there with some possible outside time depending on weather conditions
So what do you think about taking the tortoise with us?

Well I think that's a little silly to be honest - I don't see why your neighbors shouldn't be able to feed the tortoise as well since they are already coming over for the birds! I think it would be stressful and pointless for the tortoise to go along in a cage it is not used to - but that's just my opinion.

Well. I dont really want to add more work for her to do. I cant ask for her to come over in the mornings turn off the night lamp then turn on the day lamp, feed, water then come back at dark turn off the day lamp & turn on the night lamp for a week on top of feeding/watering 5 birds (2 different kinds of bird food budgie & finch) lol but watever well figure something out.

If you get a light timer that will handle the lights, that's what I did when I went away. Then they'll just have to feed the tortoise which in my opinion is pretty easy but maybe that's just me lol.
