Gerbils?

carnivorouszoo

Crazy Critter Lady
I was wondering will corns eat f/t gerbils? I am being given a bunch of gerbils for free. There are 3 males and 2 females. 1 female is pregnant. I am thinking keep a female from the litter for the spare male and have 3 breeding pairs. Would snakes eat the babies and adults f/t?

depends on the size. Most keepers don't like offering gerbils as they are the are like the filay minion of the rodents. Sometimes a snake will not come off them and gerbils can get pricey as they are more of a pet rodent.

I would not be charging much more for gerbils than the mice I will be offering. Gerbils are excellent at chewing cardboard and paper into their own bedding and only need cleaned out once a month as opposed to every week as with mice. I think I will try offering them for a while I can always clear out and mark it up as a learning experience right?

Oops I failed to mention that I am going to be selling f/t feeders to some local snake owners who are tired of paying $0.75 for pinks and fuzzies that had considerable size differences and the next option being live adult mice for $2 each.

I bred gerbils for a couple years & had great luck with my stubborn feeders using them. They are larger than pink mice, but the snakes were still able to handle them. I never fed them to anything that was eating mice for fear that they would decide they didn't like mice anymore.

I sold the left overs as pets.

Once I got a hold of a dead Anole to use for scenting I separated the gerbils & sold a few & kept a few till they died. The gerbils were very cute, but I don't miss the extra chores!
