Hygrometer Placement

So, I bought the stick-on hygrometer. But when I got home, I found out I had no idea where the ideal place to put it was. I tried looking it up on the FAQ but it only stated what the range should be. Soooo, where is the ideal area that I should place the hygrometer at? Also, are stick on hygrometers a good enough tool for measuring accurate humidity, or should I invest in a digital hygrometer with probe? Any and all feedback is much appreciated.

I have a digital hygrometer with a probe. I placed the probe in the middle of the viv right above the substrate, I figure that's mid-temp at snake level.
My snake has always shed well even if the humidity was low. She has had whole sheds at 35% rel., and I know the humidity was probably lower than that in the tank she was in before. She has had a few sheds that were in several pieces, one in the first tank, a few in the new viv. No broken sheds in the new viv were when the humidity was low.
