So... many... kittens....

Kitten season is definitely in full swing. The tally at my work? Three females, 11 kittens from 4 litters. We are currently drowning in bitty babies. Ages range from a whopping 3 weeks to 2 days old.

I swear I have the BEST job in the world! :D

I will be sure to attack you with pictures tomorrow! :D

Brief history (because I'm hyper excited about so many kittens!):

Orangina: Orange 1yr old female. She had 3 kittens of her own. She and the babies were brought in several weeks ago when the tiny ones were only 2 days old. They're three weeks right now. When the kittens were two weeks old, someone found a single, day-old kitten and Orangina immediately took to the little one so she now has 4, two boys and two girls. All of these guys (including mom!) have homes with either a vet or a vet tech. Hooray!

Macy: Long-haired brown tabby and white, a little under one year. This is apparently her second litter.:realhot: She's a real sweetheart. She has 4 babies, most of which appear to be siamese-mixes. These little ones are about 2 weeks old.

Mittens: Long-hair blue point siamese mix with blue/green eyes. She's between 1 and 2 years old. She had 5 kittens to begin with, I was told but two died the first day. The three current survivors are 2 days old. 2 are clearly siamese-mix types, and the third... well... the third clearly had a different father than the siamese-mix male that was running around. Little dark brown, almost black tabby. This litter has me worried. The umbilical cord of one of the white kittens got wrapped around the hind foot of the other white one. Both kittens were stuck to the towel in the carrier and the foot of the one has died.... The kitten itself seems okay, and I'm hopeful that the dead foot will drop off on its own without doing any harm. I'm really worried about that little one though. >_> I'm going to insist on the name of Tripod for it.

The latter two females were given into my care today. x_x They're now comfortably settled at the hospital I work at. Both new mama cats have URI signs and now they'll be taken care of.

Can't wait to show off pictures of all of the babeeeeesssss!

>_> And if you know anyone in the San Fran Bay Area of CA that wants a kitten..... direct them towards me! XD

Found some photos that were taken last week by a coworker... just two, so it's a bit of tease, but still!

So, the mom here is Orangina, along with one of her boy kittens. The little brown tabby is hers and is a girl. Her foster/adopted one wasn't photographed sadly.

Awww! That little orange tabby kitty reminds me of our Pippin! We found him abandoned and stuck inside my MIL's garage wall, crying like crazy! Mom must have had the kittens up in the rafters of the garage and he fell and she took off with the others. Matt cut a hole in the wall and we got him out. His eyes were'nt even opened yet and I bottled raised him. He's now going on 4 years old and is a big 'ol huge boy!

*grins widely* I'm in San Jose.... if you feel like a nice road trip in a couple months.....:D

And now for the replies that feature... PICTURES!

First up I think I am going to do Macy and her 4 babies. She has three snowshoe-type babies and one gray tabby.

The pictures are all small, I'm sorry, but my camera is terrible at dealing with anything that moves quickly so they are ALL blurry to varying degrees.

Here is Macy and her babies before I disturbed them. She's such a good mommy and is unfortunately really funny looking because she's dirty and scrawny.

mittens.jpg

Not even a year old and so funny looking. ;_;

The kittens are nearly two weeks old, but they have tiny eye infections so they keep getting crusted shut again.

"Bein' dis kyoot is rly tiringks...."

Mittens time! The photos of mittens I had to adjust the heck out of so she stopped being "Yellow-orange cat is yellow and orange!" She has just 3 babies, including the little Tripod.

She's so pretty and soft, but very very shy. She does like head scritchies though. Just not sure about the petting thing.

"What on earth is that thing?"

mittennormalwhitejpb.jpg

Here is the normal little white baby. This one is likely going to end up looking like mom. The most likely daddy for the majority of the kittens in these litters looked *just* like Mitty here, in fact.

This is little Tripod. You can see the icky foot. :puke02:

"I is a tribbles!"

mittenstribble2.jpg

"Oh wait, I guess I'm a 3-day-old kitten after all. Drat."

I love Tribble. :3 It's my favorite out of all of them. While the face shows off the brown, the body is nearly entirely black except for its little legs.

Awww. Poor Tripod! I have the sudden urge to drive all the way across the country and bring the little fella home to Maine! I hope he makes it okay and I hope he finds a happy forever home. :) All the others are adorable too. I love kitties.

Aww, I want another kitty really bad, but they make my eyes swell shut. My aging boy is probably going to be my last. :(

I hope they find good homes to go to, with lots of treats and catnip.

1. Do you know if Tribble is male or female yet? Pleeeease post pics of it as it grows a bit. :)

2. What shelter do you work with? Where in Cali?

I'm in the market for a kitten... like, my biological kitten clock has been ticking hardcore. Just gotta convince the boyfriend. What else is new. Hehehe.

I *think* Tribble is a boy. I peeked under the tails of all 7 so it's hard to keep track now in my head which gender is which.

I actually work at a veterinary hospital in San Jose, CA.

thats want I want to do as a carreer. Even tho I have had kittens and puppies here it is differnt helping those.
