I don't have an aquarium or anything but I do have four Betta boys. I named them all Xavier, Logan, Magneto, and Cyclops. LOL.

I thought I would post a few just for fun. I'm playing with my camera features so it's kind of a learning process right now.

Bettas are really easy to take care of. LOL. They're pretty though. The boys are prettier than the females. I only saw one female I would get.

Take a look..

The Betta obsession started with the pink one, than they slowly kept multiplying.. LMAO. ;)

I don't really know a lot about other fish but I am learning. :)

I guess some people would classify me as sort of a fish person. ;)

I do have one betta. My business partner was visiting from FL a few years ago and convinced me to get this tiny female. She's always been a sultry wench (read: mean as hell) and she refuses to depart this world despite my best efforts.

You should check out UltimateBettas.com if you're really into them. There's a mass addiction group over there.

I don't mean to sound overly critical here, but while one could say that I "COULD" live in a closet, I wouldn't thrive. Same goes with bettas. The dorsal fins on your guys are seriously clamped which indicates stress. Bettas are frequently displayed in tea cups and various other torture chambers, but that doesn't not make it a healthy environment for them. Being labyrinth fish, it's not critical to have them in cycled tanks, but true fish keepers consider it nothing short of cruelty to keep them in those tiny containers with small amounts of water. Your turquoise fish looks miserable in his three inches of water. There are a lot of great sites on the net that can direct you to proper betta care, but I will forewarn you that if you post those shots on one of the more popular betta sites, the reaction will not be kind. I apologize for my bluntness, but I'm just going to assume here that you've been given poor information.

Have I read that you work in a pet store? Is it a chain or a locally owned store?

I used to keep Betta's about a year ago, but i went out of town for a week and left them at my girlfriends house in 1 gallon tubs and she somehow killed them! haha i think i had two males and two females. i bred them a few times but only a few hatched, and i gave those away to a local fish store. i kept them all in a 30 gallon long tank with 4 separate sections via dividers.

Now i keep and breed platy's. i have a bigger tank with an Oscar, gar and a sunfish, but im going to try and sell the gar soon. I think im going to turn the tank into more of a native species tank.

I've been trying to get something bigger but the store I work at doesn't have it and I wanted to wait until they get it. I'm thinking like a divided aquarium that gives them more space to keep them in or something like that. And Yeah I know about the water.I try to keep up on it but I got a little lazy. I usually tell myself everyday to do so and I get too tired.. Our Bettas at the store are in small cups for weeks and the water is changed every 3 days. Mine have been alive with me since March.

The store is a chain. Most of them are in Oregon and only one in Washington.

I have two male bettas. I love them! One of them, named Bon Qui Qui, is a blue halfmoon betta. The other one is a normal red betta named Jamockala. (I love thinking of crazy stupid names for my fish!)

There was this other crowntail at petco when I bought Jamockala the other day that I REALLY want...but I just don't really need to be spending $14 on a single fish right now...it was gorgeous! He was all white with purple on the tail and fins. Yowza! I think when I get paid Friday I'm gonna go see if he is still there!

I also have a 10gal that has a single zebra danio that I've had for a little over a year and a single male guppy.

Get a few females for him and they will breed! Breeding guppies is fun, but when you get a lot of them they will reproduce really fast and your tank will be filled with tiny fry! same goes for most live bearing fish like that.

Actually, I have had numerous guppies while I was growing up and never saw any fry except for a single one that I saw recently...but he disappeared. I don't know if they are getting sucked up in the filter or being eaten or what? Idk...guppies are gorgeous and I'd love to have a tank full of them, but I just can't seem to get them to breed. And I've heard they are supposed to multiply like rabbits...so I don't know what the heck is going on!

Again, just because they CAN live in small cups, doesn't mean they should, nor does it mean they can thrive. As with any pet/animal/fish/reptile/living child...if you're going to have one, have one responsibly. You can get large containers anywhere. Go to Michael's craft store. They have large vases that hold several gallons of water. Still not ideal, but infinitely better than what you're keeping them in now. Those fish you have barely have enough space to turn around, let alone swim freely.

I quit on Bettas.....

I only get em when one passes I need to fill the Betta Gardens.
Two things.....

1. My gardens are two half gallon vases from Wal-Mart, $4.00.

2. I gave up on the little booger cause when I worked at PetSupermarket thye were $2.99 a piece. I saw a nice looking male at Petco a few weeks ago, looked at the pricing guide..... $14.99! Fourteen ninety-nine! Thats an 18 pack of Much Ultra Dark!

I think they're cheaper at Wal-mart (the Bettas, that is).

Petco's are so expensive because they have different kinds. The halfmoon I have I'm thinking was around $14. The crowntail I used to have was around $7? Idk...and now they have king bettas too that are huge and I think they are around $15. But they also have the normal bettas that are like $2 or $3.

Idk WHAT I was thinking when I paid $14 for my halfmoon...I must have been smokin' something that day!
