So I tryed to take a photo shoot with it. It didn't work to well.

It is for sure a Patherophis... I thought at first it might be a Juv. Blk rat but after looking it over it seems to be a darker phase corn snake.

The pictures do not give it justice the orange/yellow sides are so bright. I so far ended up putting it in a tank in the shed (quartine). Do not know if I am going to keep it or not.

WOW, that is a pretty snake! Very interesting markings and makes me wonder if it's some type of hybrid. I may be wrong, because what do I know!! Nice find!

Oh, did you at least give it a mouse? I mean, isn't that what it was looking for?

Good Luck,

Wayne

Buzzard, VERY NICE !!
To answer your questions you sent me, yes, that is the typical look/coloration of the Alabama corns.

Here are two pics. the first is of the very first one (male) I found once I moved here. He is from NE Alabama (DeKalb County)

The second is of a female collected from NCentral Alabama (Madison County) around the Huntsville area. She is the only one I've see with this dark silver/gray (Miamish) coloration.

I have found 3 that ALL resemble the male I have pictured. I actually came across a DOR this morning with the same coloration, just a tad bit lighter.

What County are you in??

Walter,
:crazy02: BOUT' CORNS !!

Pike county just south of Montgomery.... and I plan on getting it sex later, if I decide to keep it, which I probably should since I feed it.

It's goregous! If you don't keep it you could always send it my way lol. That's a great find I never see them here because they are threatened here.

The ones in my area look very typical, like any normal corn any breeder anywhere would be selling.

I went right by your exit this past week end Nanci. I use to live in Clearwater. I caught plenty of Yellow rats and a couple of normals when I was down there, I even have a wild caught from that area in my collection.

Aw, you could have stopped in! Except I was driving to Orlando multiple times...

Darn. I went by Saturday afternoon heading North on 75. Maybe next time when I get more notice that I have to make the trip. (I learned about the trip on Thursday day and left out Thursday night.)
