Sorry I haven't been talking to you guys lately but I've been having to deal with my dog's imminent death. My dog Chessica had to be put down ( I HATE that term! ) last nite.:cry::cry::cry:She had been slowly going downhill and we all knew it was just a matter of time. She would have been 16 years old if she had made it to her birthday July 4th. As it is I think she broke some kind of record for her breed. ( Borzois do NOT make it to 15! 11 maybe but not 15. ) Glucosomine is some good stuff!

Anyway, here's some pics of her in her younger days.

What a beautiful girl she was! That is an amazing amount of extra time you had with her. I'm sorry for your loss.

15 years is phenomenal for a Borzoi!! She needed all that time to make sure she loved you as much as she could. Our lab mix of 12 yrs crossed the Rainbow Bridge a few weeks ago. It's so painful to see them declining in health. Maybe our pets are playing together now.

I am sorry to hear about your loss! It is horrible our pets (kids) can't be with us for a much longer time! I just lost one of mine to a brain tumor she was way too young! My thoughts are with you at this painful time.

I am so sorry to hear about your dog. Borzoi are beautiful; my former boss showed/ bred them, and 16 is ancient for the breed--good job on taking excellent care of her.

I lost my "heart" dog April 23rd at age 13. It was her time to go, but it still hurts (even though my house is now much calmer & quieter); I really miss her.

I am have been working on a memorial to go near her urn; maybe something like that would help you feel better (it's making me cry and feel better at the same time)

Wow, what a lovely dog! I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. :(
I've never heard of a 15 year old Borzoi. She must have been a very happy, healthy girl up until the end.

So sorry for your loss!

Many have us have been through this too many times. Unfortunately, it never gets any easier. But I am glad you were able to share life with her for as long as you did.

My condolences - she was a beauty!

I just got off the phone with her breeder at Hound Hollow Farm. It seems that Chessica was the longest lived Borzoi that she has ever bred. Her litter-mates had all died 3 or 4 years ago. Chessie's mother, Cayenne, lived until 13. When I first started researching Borzoi, I was told they only lived 6 or 7 years so don't bother getting one.

I'm so glad I didn't listen!

Thank you guys so much for your condolences. It means a lot to me in a time like this.
