Angry Gophersnake

[Insert Witty Commentary]
Went cruising for a little bit tonight. Saw 2 different Great Horned Owls at 2 different times swoop down in front of the truck and pick up a mouse. It was pretty incredible.

Also saw a really nice, but very upset, Great Basin Gophersnake (Pituophis catenifer deserticola).

Thanks for looking!

Thats a real clean looking snake Chris, it's a wonder you didn't take it home....
BTW are there any other types of pits other than very upset... LOL

He's so beautiful.. Your gophers are so much darker than most I see out here.. Great shots. I am still jealous of your owl experiences though. PUNK!!!! ;)

I am still trying to figure out WTH kind of snake I saw tonight.

I love angry Pits. lol Chris this is a great shot and a very clean looking snake.
I am with Mike, it would have been very tempting to add that one to the collection.

That is one of the prettiest gophers I have ever seen sweet find- why didn't it come home with you?

Very kewl!!! Great shots.

As for the "angry pit" comment... We ran across one here on our campus a few weeks ago. It was about 4.5 feet long. TAME as could be! Wish I had some pics to show, but released it "away" from the kids so that it could live a long happy life. LOL.
