Hello. i only just got a amel cornsnake 1 month back, and i have no idea of its age. i was wondering if anyone could give me a guess of its age if i told them the size.... It is 21 inches long last time it shed. This is really important to me because i plan to record the length of the snake everytime it sheds, and note down the size and age. If anyone could help me it would be great!

Unfortunately, you can't really tell the true age by length. All snakes grow at a different rate, just like people. Every one is different. Also, measuring the shed is a very inaccurate way to measure, as the shed skin can stretch to put on an additional 25%.

I would guess it's an 08, but that's just a guess. Weights and lengths can vary quite greatly.

I use the same measuring program that Robbie posted, it works great.
 
Only ever had one, but he is currently 30 inches long, and is a March '08, so if the snake has been fed regularly (not wintered like some store owners do) and not powerfed, sounds like a yearling.
