Common Garter Snake

So I got tired of seeing the killer pics of all these awesome snakes everyone ELSE is finding...and seeing as how I have a creek running through my backyard, I decided to find one for myself!
Now it was no Western Diamondback or anything like that...just a little (16" or so) Common Garter Snake. I knew it was a Garter...so I looked it up...brown background, three yellow stripes down it's back...only thing is, the CAMERA WAS IN THE HOUSE!

About 10ft. from the creek we have a small tent set up that the kids play in (under our supervision ofcourse, being that close to the creek!)
I just lifted up the tent and there he was! I left him alone and he was gone when I got back w/the camera...so here in about 30 min. I am going back out to see if I can find him again...or a different one...if not tonight, I'm sure I will see one under there tomorrow when it warms up again...

Point I'm making is....I WILL GET A DA$@ PICTURE SOONER OR LATER :D :D

And as soon as I do, it will be up here :D

We will be expecting results soon. I was camping a couple of weeks ago and while hiked we found about 5 wandering garters but had left the camera back at camp. You could tell that one had just eaten something good sized. They were all pretty calm compared to my pet plains garter (he is named worf for good reason). Good luck getting your picture.

Unfortunately he wasn't back there when I got home and had a camera ready:(

However I read that the Common Garters around here are more active during the day, so tomorrow I will go out and check a few times...
