Another UTH Question!

I have had an adult cornsnake for a couple of years and used a UTH with him with no problem (20L aquarium). I have now branched into babies, and noticed that the instructions said to use some kind of reptile carpet on top of the UTH to prevent burns in case the snakes burrow under the bedding and sit on top of it (I use aspen bedding in a 5-gal aquarium). Is this necessary? Anyone had burns on their snakes from UTH's?

Thanks!

Lesley

I don't know if you do this but most here regulate their UTH with a thermostat and also so use a thermometer to check the temps the UTH is pushing out.
