Stacking tubs ontop of tubs?

How is this efficiantly heated, so that every animal recives optimal heating? Can I do this without having a special room designated for my snakes?

Without just heating the whole room, I would guess putting them on a bookcase or something, so you can stick heat tape down the back.

It depends on your climate and how warm you keep your room. If the temperature is ideal otherwise, a ceiling fan will help with temperature uniformity. If your ambient temperatures are cool and you want to heat the bins, you really need some kind of enclosure with heat source. A cheap, quick and efficient way to do it would be to use styrofoam insulation board (4 x 8 sheets at Lowe's) that can be cut with a sharp kitchen knife and built into a giant insulated box. You will still need to deal with the temperature gradient from top to bottom, especially if your floors are cold.

I was thinking of doing this but I guess it's not such a great idea..my room gets a bit too cool most of the time so they would need some kind of heat source..is it bad to stick a UTH covered in Aluminum under the tubs?

To give you guys a taste of what my climate is like; during this summer Its really very rarely been in the 70's. Yesterday, and most of last week it stayed in the 80-90's. I dont want to cook my snakes! I'm going to take poppy's advice, and build something. :)

ya a fan

Marsha always has the great ideas!
Remember they only need to be between 80 to 85,so you should be OK.
If you ever get a rack I would suggest getting a rhinoraxx I have one and that thing works great just make sure whatever you do is make sure they cant escape, there very good at that. I know cause I have a huge breeding colony under my house! Although, I have only been seeing normals come out of them I am waiting to see some cool morphs!...........:grin01:

LOL, steve! One day, something rainbow colored is going to crawl out from under your house!! But yeah; I don't think that I can pull the funds for a rhino right now; but I do like them! My room can get pretty hot if I don't have the airconditioner on, and I can always get a box fan..Would a box fan be OK? I've had escapee's but never THAT many. :p

I have the orange heat wire (don't know what else to call it). I taped it on the shelf that in an S pattern and set the first tubs on there. Then ran it up the side and across the tops of the tubs the in the same S pattern. Set the 2nd set of tubs on that one. Keep doing that. Basically the back of all of the tubs end up sandwiched in the heat wire. I kept my hatchlings in this set up for the first year. I called it my "poor man's rack". The heated end is kept at around 80-85 and the non-heated end is room temp. It was awesome!
