Hey, I promised pictures of Cornwallis, me and thelegendarystm's new baby cornsnake. These aren't fabulous, because he's still getting used to his new home, but they show his colors pretty well. He's a very bright amel, with a lot of red and orange. Look for the neat "c" marking on the back of his head! He's just two weeks old and we plan to try and give him his first meal on Friday. He stays buried under his aspen during the day, but as soon as the lights go out he's up and cruising his viv. Enjoy!

Thanks :) Yeah, I got a big fall-type garland at a craft store, rather than pick up some of those ubiquitous plastic leaves they sell at Petco. He doesn't really use his half-log on the warm side as such, though he does like to sit on top of it and hide in his leaves. He also enjoys his climbing branch. I think once he settles in, he's going to be a remarkably social snake, because he's always out and about. I was surprised, I figured a baby would hide all the time and be nervous, and he only hides during the day.
 
I also notice he likes to curl up in his little coconut after exercising at night, but he nearly always lays with his little head poking out the hole...like he wants to be able to see what's going on.

Can you tell I'm totally bonkers about him already? The self control I've had to exercise not to pick him up....you wouldn't believe it, it's driving me to drink. I've been compensating by pestering my cats.
 
Oh, and just a little side question: how are those ZooMed digital thermometers working for you so far? I've been curious about using them, but have read a lot of mixed reviews regarding accuracy. If you don't mind my asking, what do you think of them?
 
Well, we haven't had them too long, but so far they seem fine. We have the probes sitting right on top of the glass bottom, under the substrate, which probably helps with accuracy. I mean, I haven't rechecked the temps with a temp gun (we don't have one), but Cornwallis seems to be comfortable.
 
I have the same thermometer, and thus far have had no problems with it.

And Cornwallis looks great! He's adorable.
