The weirdest thing!: Father mouse nursing. No joke!

So I went to check up on one of my new moms today and I had left the male in to see if it would be okay. Well I guess it was more than okay. He had built his own nest and a couple of the babies were in it and were trying to nurse off of him! It was so funny! lol Has anyone had this happen before? And yes, I'm sure it's a male, or else the mom wouldn't have been pregnant in the first place.

I had a colony that was getting old. One of the females died. When I saw her I picked her up by the tail to take her out and she had 3 fuzzies sucking on her. I don't know if that is sad or creepy.

Umm...both :eek1:

I have a male mouse that I sort of got attached to. He's and old man now, way too old for breeding. He's over a year now. He makes an INCREDIBLE babysitter! I keep him in with my other mice who are breeding and he just loves to cuddle with the babies.

Male mice can be awesome babysitters. Mine tend to keep the babies warm when mom takes a break.

Wade that sounds sick. Was that mom stiff? I wonder if she was still had stored milk.

I don't have mice now, but in college my roomate and I had a colony for a little while - our favorite male we called "good dad" because he was. He'd totally help out with the babies and groom them and stuff :)
