as well as the sending messages to other msn users, you can join chat rooms, swap files with other users, even send text`s to mobile phones!

Its tied in to the hotmail e-mail accounts, so if you want to join in and chat about beer sex snakes and violence then your forst stop would be www.hotmail.com to grab a hotmail account(which actually is no bad thing in itself as hotmail has settings to filter out junk "spam" mails).
Once that is done i think there is a link from the hotmail account inbox to download the MSN messenger client.

Errr .. don`t want to negate anything you`ve said blito .. but haven`t MSN stopped all their chat rooms? Sorry if they haven`t .. its just that its been on the news over here that they have. Apparently the net is full of paedos wanting to swoop on innocent young children!?!
