We got our baby corn snake Tatzu a week ago, we tried feeding her twice and she doesn't even seem to notice the pinkie! She was frighten at first and wouldn't come out from her hide, now she seems very comfortable in her tank and explores it daily. She looks strong and happy. We talked to a lady at the petstore we got her from, she told us to try again in a couple of days, and that we should put the pinkie in boiling water, we've been doing it in warm water not boiling, the lady said that could be our problem because if the mouse is just warm, our baby snake might think it's just a warm rock or something. Is that true? should the mouse be that hot? would that burn her at all? the last time we tried we left her with the mouse and didn't bug her at all, we waited for about an hour and it didn't work. Are there any other tricks we should try?
Please, help, We don't want to loose her. :(

Try this, Put her in a deli cup or small tupperware container(make sure there are air holes). As hot as the tap water will get, thaw your pinkie, make sure it is thawed all the way through , then get a small cup of Hot as the tap will get water, and dunk the pinkie in it for a few more minutes. Then place the pinkie in the deli cup with the snake already in it. Put the deli cup in the enclosure and let it be. It wont burn the snake. Do this in the evening and let it be until morning or until she has eaten.

If that does work, here are a few more tricks to try, do a search on the forums for details on each..... Try live pinkies, try splitting the pinkie (sometimes the blood smells triggers a feeding responce), try braining, try cutting the pinkie in half, Try dipping pinkie in tuna juice or chicken fat, Wash the pinkie with water(no soap)scrub it down with your fingers real well. Tease feeding(in Kathy Love's book),

I have a picky eater that will only eat the pinkie if I cut the head almost off. She likes the smell of blood...... I would also try waiting... Offering food only every 5 days untill it eats.

Good luck

put a nail or something similar into the back of the pinks head. and stir the brains around. braining will lead to a better smelling prey. idk about better, but stronger i gues. could always try that.

My sanzabar won't eat if he can see me AT all. I use a small towel to cover his feed box when he eats and check every hour or so to see if he is done. I usually start the feed session at about 7:30pm and go to bed at about 9:30 so if he has not eaten by the time I need to go to bed he stays with it in his feed box over night. Doesn't hurt him and he always eats. Try that :)
