I have a rubbermaid container for Whiskey and right now its still warm so no need for heating.. during the day its between 83 and 88 and at night its a lil cooler no cooler than 78 and 75 but its a gradual change not all of a sudden.. but my deal is Im getting another snake so I got him and will put the new one in rubbermaid containers... its going to be getting cold or cooler soon and I have central heating and air i use a space heater soo my question is what do I use for their heat.? I was told that I could use a regular heating pad and place it on the outside under the tub.. I also know they have the reptile heat pads but will that burn the tub? Sorry it takes me awhile to get to the point lol.. u know I gotta tell a story with it.. HaHa....

Thanks in aAdvance.. Krystal and Whiskey

I wouldn't recommend using a heat pad for humans, as they get hotter than is recommended for snakes.
I would recommend getting a UTH for each snake and use a thermostat or rheostat/dimmer for each UTH.

Good luck with the new acquisition! :)

You can use a regular UTH underneath the rubbermaid containers. Although it would probably be a good idea to attach a dimmer to the UTH also. The UTH is only supposed to get to 85F, give or take a few degrees, which is no hotter than your hand and should not burn the plastic.

How hot does it get with the space heater on? If it warms up good then you probably wouldn't need a UTH anyway. That's what I use, and it works great. I leave it on throughout the day and the temp stays in the mid 80s, I turn it off at night and the temps get to the mid 70s. Not sure how it would work in your situation, you'd have to experiment a little :p
