these may be pretty silly but i'm bored and mayb someone will have a good idea.
1. how do i know when to feed (its 6 weeks old)
2. how do I know how big of a hide i'll need (i read snakes prefer to be in tight spaces)
3. if you use a termostat (such as ReptiTemp 500r) how do you have the sensor wire fastened?
4. I read corns need 50% humidity , if its low should i mist the cage?
5. Is 20 gallon long tank really big enough for a 5 foot snake?
6. Do you have your tank raised above your stand ?( for exzample i read using bottle tops so theres air flow so the heat mad doesnt scorch the stand) if so what do you use to raise it up?
any answeres would be appreceated.

Okay, I'll bite.

1. Feeding normally occurs every 4-5 days for hartchlings but you can feed once a week and still maintain a healthy Corn. You'll know he's getting hungry when he starts to prowl around at dusk and dawn.

2. You're correct about tight spaces and they can squeeze into some pretty small ones. If your snake doesn't quite fit in a space, he'll hang out the opening. Just use common sense on this one.

3. I believe thermostats have a heat sensor on the end of a wire which is placed on the warm end of the viv. Most terrarium type setups have a small opening in the cover to accomodate it.

4. You can mist the cage, use a humidifier, move the water bowl closer to the warm end or add additional water bowls to increase humidity.

5. I believe a 20 gallon tank is large enough to accommodate a full gown Corn. However, if you end up with a 6 foot monster you might want a slightly larger one. I'm not sure.

6. The two heat pads I've looked at both recommend (and come with) rubber boots to ensure that tank and heat mat are raised above the surface of the tank's stand.

Cheers,
Jason

The sensor of the thermostat is placed to measure the surface of the substrate at the warm end. You can lay it on the surface on the substrate itself , as I do , or attach it to the heatmat and use a thermometer to measure the substrate temperature.

Ok i have a question. I just got my first snake today its a creamsicle and i was wondering is it good to put it in a seperate container for a week to see how it does with feeding or should i put it in its regular cage? My neighbor owns about 15 snakes and he says i should put it in a seperate container for a week so i can see how it does with eating and with going to the bathroom. I was just wondering if this was a good idea.
