How do you make a rubbermaid enclosure

Haya Tha'baan

I want to make a rubbermaid container for a ball python and I want to know all the specs to make it. It's for an adult and I'd like to know how many quarts I should get. I'm looking for the under the bed type (that's the best right?) I'm mostly confused about how to make the holes in the plastic. Can anyone share how they've done it?

I'm confused so...help!

The holes can be drilled in, about a 3/16” drill bit is good. Sometimes when drilling the plastic will crack. If you use high rpms on the drill and light feeding pressure, that will help. Another probably better way is to use a soldering iron and melt the holes. No cracking problems with melting.

You will need the lock type lid on the Rubbermaid or will need some clips like the clamping type paper clips to hold the lid shut. Otherwise the snake will push the lid off.

I have my 1700-ish gram, 10-ish year old female in a 41 quart Sterilite right now... She seems to like it, and it works well enough. (I want to go bigger... She probably thinks it's perfect!)

Like Wade said, drilling works well enough. The only downside other than the potential for cracking is, if your drill is as heavy as mine, you're almost guaranteed to have a cramped wrist by the time you're done. =)
