Could someone please tell me at what size of a corn should I start feeding them peach fuzzies, fuzzies, hoppers, etc.? Thx.

Adam:)

Generally you go with food that is 1 & 1/2 times the girth of your snake. Not measuring the fur of the prey item.

thx Alicia. 1.5 times as wide as the snake not counting the fur. I'll have to remember that. Thx again.

Adam:D

oh yea.....

so does that mean for my aprox. 18 inch creamsicle it would be healthy to feed it one pinky every week. Or should I be feeding Corny (yes, that's its name, I know it's kind of corny but oh well) more than that because I keep hearing of people feeding their snakes a lot more. And if I should be feeding Corny more then should I go to maybe two pinkies a week or up to one fuzzy a week? I just want what is best for my snake. Any ideas?

Adam

It really depends on the size of the pinks your feeding. If they are small pinks then 2 might be appropiate. It's hard to determine just by the length of the snake. By using the girth as the guideline your going to be closer to appropiate meal size:)

Signs of being under weight would be spine showing, skin that looks loose or wrinkley. These would be signs of excessive weight loss.

I don't think you have to worry about your youngster being over weight. That is mostly a problem for over fed adults:D As long as you follow a reasonable feeding schedule you should be fine.

I have an 18" Amel Red and he's eating a fuzzy now. He's probably about as big around as my pinky finger in diameter. The 1 1/2-2 times the size rule seems to be a pretty good one. I feed him once a week, on the same day, and as close to the same time as possible. I don't know if it matters, but I can keep track of his progress better that way.
