Gearing up the pinkie machine

Buzzard

two corny
So last night I started construction of another rack to set up in the mouse room. I figure I better get a jump start on getting about 4-5 more colonies started. Since hatching season is only 4 or 5 months out. Last year I started a little later in the year and was scrambling around for pinkies because my breeders werent putting as many out as I needed and I had to wait for a couple of young colonies to start producing. So I figure, If I start now the colonies will be in the prime producing age about May ( assuming I get the rack built and colonies set up by Mid Feb).

Last years colonies I culled out in Nov -Dec, I didnt have many babies to feed by then.

Does anyone else gear up like this for hatching season?
