Does anyone know how long flexx watt lasts before it like "dies" I guess you could say? I haven't been able to find that anywhere. Could anyone plz help? Thx.
I've been meaning to ask the same question about UT heating pads. Is it six months, a year, five years? I have no idea so if anyone can answer that along with Adam8's Flexwatt question it would be appreciated.
I do not know about regular flex watt but at the Boaphile.com site under cageing in the heating section it says that he has never seen a falure in ten years. This is not exactly the same stuff I have seen most people use, but it may help give you an idea. Here is the page where he mentiones it.
You can buy 3", 4", and 11" FlexWatt heat tape from The Bean Farm (www.beanfarm.com). They also sell clips, cords, and tape (to adhere the FlexWatt to your cages).
Its good stuff... I have a 4-foot section that I've been using for years (at least seven, maybe more) as back up for heating extra shoeboxes when my shoebox rack is full. I've also used it in homemade racks for sweaterboxes, and my professionally made racks have FlexWatt too. You can't go wrong. I've never had it stop working. I wish I could say the same for thermostats!
Sorry, can't help with the UTH question. I've never used them.
You can also buy a whole roll of flexwatt from the company that makes it. They sell the clips and a special crimper tool for them, as well. It's a fairly large investment buying a whole roll, but it is definitely cheaper in the long run. You can visit the site here . You'll have to call for pricing (800 922-9276).
