It definitely depends on the temperment of the cats. I have 2. They both enjoy staring at the snakes from behind glass/plastic, and the snakes seem fine with that. One of the cats is not allowed near them when they are out of the cage. I just don't trust her with them. The other cat I trust a lot more. She'll sniff them and even let them crawl around on her (with supervision of course). She's been trained/conditioned since she was a kitten to stop moving and settle down whenever I have a hand on her back (yeah, she's not a cat, we call her "puppy-cat"), so she'll just lay there with a snake on her head and not budge. I wouldn't try that in a million years with my "normal" cat LOL. Mostly as long as the snakes don't escape and you keep an eye on everything when you get the snakes out they should be ok.
