Another....... "Why Are People So Stupid?"

Why on earth would somebody keep such a dangerous & beautiful hot & then DUMP it??? This makes NO SENSE!

"Idiot" is an understatement! It amazes me what people will do. Keeping a hot until it grows big, probably getting scared of it and then dumping it behind a building. :shrugs: So sad!

WOW, I don't keep hots but I love the Gabbon. Very bad snake. They are really difficult to keep. Very fast. This would have been someone with snake experience. This isn't some dumb kid that brought on home.

Wade, that's what I thought. Not an easy hot to keep so not a beginner. So what's with the dump? I mean, these are gorgeous, if you have the experience to keep one safely why not just quietly enjoy? I don't have ambitions to keep hots but if I did this is the species I'd be working up to being ready for because of their beauty.

Seems like the owner should have known captive-bred snakes are not equipped to survive in the wild - especially the harsh winters of Maine. If he didn't care about its survival, and no longer wanted it, wouldn't it have been better to humanely euthanize the poor thing instead of subjecting it to uncomfortable elements and putting other people at risk?

But I guess that's the whole point of this post . . .

Man! Look at that thing! BEAUTIFUL

Whoa, holy huge picture batman.

:shrugs: I know. I screwed up the flow of the forum. Sorry, I didn't even notice the sucker needed a resize.

I guess if you like it enough, you have a copy of optimally ridiculous quality.

well I'm guessing it didn't just slither up there...I think it makes it worse that it HAD to be an experienced person...there's a difference between a stupid teenager releasing a corn snake and an experienced keeper releasing a snake that could kill people... Either that or it got out...which in my opinion is almost as bad...poor snake..

And as an after thought, I wonder if the person even THOUGHT of turning it over to a zoo or something along those lines. There could be a million and one excuses as to why you had it and no one could really prove it differently...

It seems that everyone is assuming the snake was alive when it was dumped, but I'll say that it was already dead when it's owner left it there. The owner didn't want to dispose of it in his own garbage in case it was found and could be traced back to him. An anonymous dump won't get him in deep doo-doo. Just my $0.02 worth.

Second place stupid award goes to this guy...
The Warden Service also says, even if the snakes are dead, they're still poisonous.

So for god's sake, forget those "snake-in-a-blanket" dinner plans!

I think I like Susan's theory. It does make more sense that the snake died in this guys possession and he was just getting rid of it.
