Here's a post I saw on CL this morning. What do you think? I quoted it too just in case the ad gets flagged or something.

Hi, I just recently moved from an apartment to a house, and I have a very large bedroom that gets quite humid year-round that I am housing my snakes in. I really enjoy snakes and handle each of mine daily, as well as get them regular vet checks for parasites, diseases, etc. I have TONS of open space in the reptile room, and the entire room is temperature and humidity controlled with SEVERAL thermostats and hygrometers throughout the room, specifically for my snakes.
Now I am willing to open my heart and home to snakes ONLY, and none over 10 feet (due to cage requirements)
I have no experience with turtles, lizards, iguanids, etc. but I am very educated about the needs and environment requirements for snakes. I have two extra ten gallons and one twenty for right now, so if it requires a larger tank I will have to ask for the cage as well. I do not necessarily NEED money for taking them but donations are always appreciated.
I even allow visits to my home before taking a snake so the owner is satisfied with my setup. I also allow visitations with a snake (if you love him/her but HAVE to get him/her a new home due to whatever circumstances may occur).

I am not listing my phone number or contact details here - I will, however, reply with this information with anyone SERIOUSLY interested in rehoming their snake.

Also, I WILL take untame snakes, as long as they are under 5 ft (I prefer to handle them to ATTEMPT at taming them, however I am NOT as strong as the coils of a 12 foot ANGRY burmese!)

Because they refuse to give a name of number, I have a feeling that they plan to resell the animals. Lots of people try to do that around here, and if they give a name or number they will have others on CL reporting them for what they did in the past to their animals.
 
So wait . . . she wants people to pay HER for giving her snakes? Not the other way around? Sounds a tad suspicious.
 
I don't know. They specifically said snakes only, so if they were reselling, wouldn't they take other stuff too? Not wanting to post your number on Craigslist isn't necessarily a bad thing.
 
I think, that if its true, its a very noble thing that this person is trying to do. If its not true, then well...the worst can be suspected. Hard to say, although if the person really allows visits before it would be pretty easy to tell if the snake room bit is true. I use kijiji all the time, for selling and buying, and I NEVER EVER EVER list my full name, address, phone number OR e-mail. Kijiji tells me when people want to buy, or tells people I would like to buy.
I think its a silly way to go about a rescue. If you want to help reptiles that dont have homes, I dont know that this is a smart way to do it. Someone already said something about a butt load of balls, corns, and diseases. Nothing wrong with the first two, but not if they come with the last.

I know this is craigslist, I was just trying to show how even good people dont like to use their names...lol...assuming I'm a good person.
 
When I post stuff, I never post my name, or phone number in the ad. I also dont have the link of my Email showing either. it is anonymous.

If she is asking for money.. which she stated isn't necessary. But to help care for the snake you can't keep.. then I dont see a prob with it. Shelters do that when they take in owner surrenders. :-/ So I guess It could be good or bad. Lol

In one of my more charitable moods I'd say this sounded like a genuine - if misguided - attempt to offer a rescue/rehome service. However, I think I'd be asking which snakes in particular the person is talking about? There's a major difference between the requirements for, say, a Corn Snake and a GTP.

And I'd like to know the quarantine arrangements. Sounds like the new ones will go in the same room as the existing ones, which is never a good move. Especially if you're getting potentially (although not necessarily) neglected snakes.
