Clutch 4 of the year

One last pairing to try for cinders!
Zephyr (normal het hypo cinder mot) was paired with Zenya (normal het hypo, mot and poss het cinder) and she layed her clutch yesterday.
What sucks is when I got the clutch out to put in an incubating tub a few of them really rolled around so I m hoping those will not go bad. It was 13 eggs. Wow this male has fathered four clutches with only one slug in the lot!

Congrats on the clutch! What a beautiful 'clean' looking corn Zenya is, I love her silvery colouring

Whatever the outcome, judging from the parents you will get a LOT of beautiful snakes!

Congratulations, and GOOD LUCK!!! I'll do a little "Murphy stay away" dance for ya.

They're pipping!

Well, the clutch must have started to pip sometime after yesterday morning when I looked in there, because this morning I found a baby already out of the egg in the tub, and great news the first one out was a cinder! That murphy stay away dance must have worked :dancer:
Precocious little thing is already set up in a tub. And I think another is pipping!

But there is a sad note to this clutch as one of the pippies looks deformed. Guess I will wait to see how bad it looks, it was able to slit the shell and get that far at least. I didn''t get great pics but you can see its head looks wrong and mouth open.

Whoo-hoo!!! 4 out of 5. That is amazing, Jen. You must be so pleased!

So sad about that baby! Hopefully it is ok. :(

@Jessicat: Love the "Murphy Stay Away" dance!!! I was doing it last year for Jen :)

No I will get more after they shed - been a busy week at work, anyway it was all normals and cinders, which makes me suspect this girl was not het hypo.
The weird looking pippie turned out to be ok, just had its mouth open silly snake,
Another thing that I am finding very weird., no motleys in clutch #3 or 4. The father has to be het, he produced a motley with another female last year that has never been with a different male. So I find it odd that I have not even one from these two clutches from het females unless I overlooked something... And that is possible because they all have the reduced belly checkers from the upper keys heritage.

Oh, good! I am glad that one baby is ok :) How many cinders ended up hatching from this clutch?

I suppose since both are only het hypo and motley, you might not have just had the right egg and sperm hatch out. Probably test one more year before you give up on them being het for either?

That is just so cool, Jen. You must be on cloud nine with all the cinder babies!

I think I got 3 or 4 more cinders in this clutch. Hopefully another is a male so you can have a choice instead of just the extra one! I was half awake when I put most of them in a tub to live in until they have had their first shed, and then I had to go to work so I will have to get a head count on exactly how many when I am ready to set them up in individual tubs,
Welp, as far as the het hypo thing -yea it's possible. The mom of this female was anery motley het hypo, so I made a mistake in the first post saying she is het hypo what I meant was 66% poss het. But the dad is definitely het hypo and should be het motley- I wonder if some hets are just more likely to pass on than others sometimes, though.

I'm so excited. I can't wait until you sex them all and decide on your keepers. I will finally get my cinder!!! I have been wanting one since I saw the first one last year.

Are you planning on keeping both the hypo cinders?

Yea, I think I better hang onto them unless I really get in a bind and need money. I would kick myself if I sold those 2. I just have never hatched anything so rare before and I have too many cool pairings I could do with them - I still haven't sexed them but even both of them were males I would want to keep one as a backup. Will post up new pics of those when they shed.

I figured that you were, but just thought I would check! ~LOL~

Oh, yes, more pics, please, when you have the chance. That way I can get my fix until mine is ready to go! Hmmmm, better start thinking of names for the new little guy . . . .
