I've got my profile set to both email and pop up a window when I have private messages, but apparently neither is happening. I had a pm that's been in my inbox for weeks, but received no email and no notice from this site that it existed... What's up?

Beats me. I never use those functions myself so I would never notice if they suddenly stopped working.

I certainly didn't do anything to make them stop working.....
 
Kat I noticed the same thing, just figured I did something to change the options but they still says "open a pop up window with a new PM" kinda odd, just have to remember to scroll to the bottom of the page to look for new PM's
 
I guess this is a lot like asking someone "where did you lose you keys", but do you have any idea approximately when it stopped working? As I said, I never use those options, so I had no need to even think about it.

Those might be java scripts that run those routines. When I moved to the latest server, the guy who did the move for me loaded in a different java engine on the server. It's been giving me a few problems in the chat room because of it.
 
Kat... if your email addy is with yahoo, the message may have been sent to your bulk mail. A few weeks ago all of my emails from this site started to go automatically into by Bulk Mail. It took me awhile to figure things out since I never even look at my bulk mail folder. I guess they are just filtering more stuff. :awcrap:
 
That doesn't explain why it didn't pop up a message when I went to the board though...

yes some of the e-mails i get go to my bulk folder.. when that happneds just got to your bulk folder and theres an option in the e-mail that says bulk or not bulk in the e-mail if u hit not bulk it will send the e-mails back to your normal folder. as for the private messge thing pop up. i would check your inmternet otions.. if u have a pop up blokcer this would cause it to stop... this happend to me a couple of times... after about 15 legs drops to the computer and a couple body slams i found out what happend..

I'm /still/ not getting an automatic pop up when I have private messages to be read. I have the settings in my user account set to pop one up, but none appear. Can you PLEASE fix this? It's frustrating to miss information, or to have to send a late reply to someone because of a message I didn't know existed.

Kat, sorry, but I am in the thick of egg-laying season and just don't have time to look into this. In the interim, is it really all that much trouble to just check at the bottom of the page from the main page to see if you have new messages? That's what I do.
 
Have you installed a pop-up blocker. Service Pack 2 for Windows XP adds the feature to IE. The Google toolbar (and several others) have pop-up blocking.

All of the newer Mozilla (Netscape) browsers have pop-up blocking.

Have you changed anything on your end?

I doubt the pop-ups are being called by a Java routine Actually, I can almost guarantee they aren't.). More likely javascript. Have you disabled javascript?
 
I'm having the same issue and I'm sure I don't have pop-up blocking software. I always disable that from any software I own. The forum that I own uses vB forum software and I don't have any issues. I guess Kat thought the site admin might want to fix this since a lot of people depend on PMs for information among other users. :awcrap:
 
Actually... it's because this has been broken since... Januaryish? :) Ah well... I didn't know about the notice at the bottom of the main page, though... that helps.
