Chicks as a food source?

Does anyone here use chicks as a food source for their corns. I was thinking of adding the chicks to their diets, other than the staple of mice and rats. I'm considering ordering some and would like to hear about others that use chicks as a food source.

They will probably take them, BUT I would not do it myself. I have 2 reasons:

1) Snakes that feed on chicks, seem to have loose, runny stools that are a nightmare to clean up.

2) There is the possibility that they might favor the chicks to the exclusion of rodents. Then you are stuck with a picky snake with a taste for pricey (in comparison to rodents), difficult to find (again, in comparison with rodents) prey item.

Just my $.02 :D

chicks are

Chicks are actually cheaper and are larger than adult jumbo mice. At least the possible source I have. But I also agree the feces would be a mess.......

are chicks expensive in america or something? its just i can get chicks for 5-10pence where mice are 80p-£1...
also chicks seem to contain more nutrients so i cant see there being a problem giving 1 every so often, maybe 1 every 8-10feeds

Well.. their stools stink up the place.. But I just scoop them out with the substrate. I feed chicks every now and then as a treat. No snake of mine ever refused a chick. In fact I start trouwble feeders with chick legs..

I have been doing for more than 15 years and never had a Salmonella problem. I once had a pair of Irian Jaya carpets. They where 3 weeks old. The female refused everything while the male ate ratspups and mice. I git her started on chicken legs and soon had her on whole chicks. She ate chicks only for 6 months at the same rate as the male ate rats. She was twice the size he was.

how bad does it stink be becausre my 2 corn snakes are in my room???? bad enough that the stink stays AFTER the **** is gone????? and there are 2$ here and mice 1.25$ so just as a treat i get chicks occasionaly
