Worth a worry?

This is the first time since I've had Iris that she wont eat.
She's in blue and stays on the cool side of her tank.
Should I worry?
Can someone direct me to the correct archive posts that might cover this?

Please and thank you!! :)

It's normal for some snakes to refuse to eat while they are blue. Nothing to worry about. Try again after she sheds.

Many snakes won't eat while in blue, they just tend to want to stay covered and alone!

Here you can see some other members who have snakes who will refuse food while in blue.

She wont hide.
She's wide out in the open in the corner just lounging on the chilly side.
Does that make it a worry?

Does she do that at other times?

Not until last week.

How long have you had her? Have you gone through a shed cycle with her before?

Oh yes, several.
I've had her over a year and since she was tiny.

Snakes know where in the temperature gradient they need to be. Is it warm in your home? Mine are lounging OUT of their hides now that the apartment ambient is 80F. I am not stressing about it because 80F isn't that hot and cornsnakes are from the South, but it has definitely made them come out in the open more.

It is warmer in the room she's in than the rest of the house and she's drinking water just fine.

So I need to wait until after she sheds to try to feed her again right? If thats not for a few days she'll be ok to wait to eat?

Thanks by the way. :D

Yes, you can wait a few days to feed her, and it's okay to feed her the day she sheds, or the day after.

Lots of mine are lounging around out in the open, too, especially in the morning.

I have one last question. When you pick her up, does she feel normal to you? Does she respond how you'd expect? She's not limp or too quiet or anything, right?

Sorry Nanci(!) that I'm just now getting to your question.
No, she acts as normal as a normal corn does when I handle her.
Active, checking things out, tensing at a cold finger tip here and there....
