Does bleach kill crypto?

I had a hatchling die from unknown causes a while back.

I cleaned the cages and water bowl, etc. with bleach water, but I haven't used them since then.

Should the bleach have killed any potential crypto?

I would like to use the stuff again, but I don't want to endanger my new animals.

I'm pretty sure that bleach kills everything, but I just wanted to ask someone who would know for sure.

Thanks.

Last summer I though I had a Crypto positive snake. I took him to the Vet Teaching Hospital at Texas A&M University. I spoke with the Professor of Vet Pathology regarding this subject. According to the current academic literature, concentrated bleach does not kill Crypto in lab testing. Neither does Ammonia, Iodine, other sanitizing agents, nor prolonged exposure to freezing temperatures. The only confirmed method that kills Crypto is prolonged exposure to "moist heat", ie a hot wash and heat dry cycle of a dishwashing machine.

Bleach won't kill Cryptosporidium oocysts. Ammonia is the best cleaner to use and it will kill the oocysts.

Thanks for the info!

I thought bleach killed everything. I learn something new everyday.
