Should I be worried?

Well i just fed serpent a odd fuzzy (pretty sure it was a rat pinkie). No problem he took it and ate it. But here's a problem: The feeder looked huge for him and i didn't notice until he had it constricted so i couldn't take it away from him. He swallowed it without any real problems just a lot slower as with other feeders. Can snakes die from eating to big preys or would they regurgitate? Should i be worried or not? I promise I compare the size between him and the feeder next time before he gets it in his mouth. I can't take pictures, battery's are dead and we don't have new ones..

If it's too big, he should regurge. Never known one keep one down until it died unless something else was wrong to start with. Leave him absolutely in peace to digest if he can - if it was that big then you can expect the process to last longer than usual.

Don't worry, it happens - mainly because Corns are sometimes no better at recognising the "right sized" food than we are! If the worst happens you can follow the regurge protocol and the event should have no lasting effect on an otherwise healthy Corn.

Good luck - let us know how it goes.

I will leave him be till at least sunday! Thanks for your answer i was really worried he could die by eating too big food. Kinda surprised he takes everything i give him without problems, he's a good eater, this time maybe a bit too good.

I hope I'm not getting too off-topic, so if I do, just say so and I'll start another thread. But I think it relates to the question.

I've had my reptile vet tell me once that lots of people with snakes overdo the feeding size. Not nessecarily that they won't be able to digest them (and I agree that Serpent probably won't have problems if you give him some digesting time Atmox), but he said that he gets quite some snakes in (for other problems) that have small busted blood vessels in the mouth from too large prey items.
I don't mean that they bleed from the mouth, don't exactly know how to say it in english, but I think you know what I might mean, small amount of damage from having to open the mouth too far.
Really dangerous it's not, especially if you happen to come about it once by accident, but I hadn't heard from it before so I thought I would mention it.
I tend to believe my vet, as he is specialised in reptiles and generally has a real good reputation.

UPDATE: I think he'll be fine, i just noticed that he moved from the warm side hide to the cool side hide and I'll check tomorrow or Monday the entire cage for a possible regurgitation. Thanks for the help anyway!

@Kali: Sounds logically that some snakes would have that injury.

I'd say if you can't smell it, it's not there! Regurges are one of the most rank stenches the average person will ever encounter.

I question this???
You're not sure what your feeding it.

But like said above, give it peacefull time and it will be OK.

Well the store i buy my mice was out of fuzzys except the ones they have for their own snakes but they were in the same bin as the rat pinkies and i guess that one got mixed up with the fuzzys i bought. I wouldn't feed it to my snake if i wasn't sure it was safe snake food but i wasn't sure if it was a mice or rat. It looked like a super sized pinkie..

Oh LOL ok, I understand now. Rat, from what I understand, are more nutritious anyway.

Yeah i heard that too. Ooh btw maybe a tip for some people who not always feed mice: The pet store where i get my f/t puts there rats and mice in the same bin so that they all smell the same way, so if you feed a rat to a snake who otherwise eats mice, they aren't as likely to refuse.

Rats are a little more fatty so i *thought* you only feed rats to boas or a snake that needs something bigger than an adult mouse. Don't quote me though

yes, that's so and that's why I'm not a fan of rat for corns feeding.

Could be, but as i said: i didn't buy them as rats they just ended up between the fuzzys ^^ Well that 1 rat won't 'hurt' him.

No, you can feed them rats if you want, it won't hurt them. And we understand that it was an accident but you said that you think they are healthier for them and i was just saying that i read something on rodentpro.com and it said that they are about even protein wise, just a little fattier and bigger. So i was just explaining when i would use rats. no biggie :)

Yes i indeed said i heard they were more nutritious, but your comment has some logic to it. It might overdo it a bit for such a skinny snake species. On other side it may be an alternative for feeding 2 fuzzy mice.

That may work, I wonder how big it is compared to a hopper though
