So my snake has been growing really fast. He is only 9 months old and is already over 2 feet. I don't have a scale to weigh him though. Does he look overweight to anyone?

I feed him every 7-10 days but if I don't give him 3 pinkies he gets pissed. Should I just feed him less often? This is the most recent picture I have of him.

actually you need to take him off pinkies and move up to fuzzies and then hoppers. He is ready!

that would make sense since he needs to eat three! I tried a fuzzie a few weeks back and his face got really really red so I wasn't sure if I should continue with those.

Well I am glad that he is growing, I just wasn't sure if I was feeding him too much. I will try a fuzzy next time and see how that goes.

Looks a good weight to me. Usually I would look for "hips" on the snake directly up from the vent. That portion is just barely in the picture but it looks fine.

Be prepared, many people report growth spurts when switching from pinkies to fuzzies.

You want to get off pinkies asap because they don't have the nutrition content a bigger snake needs.

You will see him level out in weight pretty soon, with larger mice.

Remember the rule: the mouse should be 1.5 times the largest part of the snake.

PS... Your snake is gorgeous!

That's the max size you can give. A good prey measures 1 to 1,5 times the thickest part of the snake's body.

And what do you mean with: ........ and his face got really really red'?!

i was also wondering why the face would get real red. my yearling is 9 months and the last shed ( a week ago ) measured 25 inches. I have been on fuzzies for a good while now and all of a sudden she seems fat. It is natural to undergo a growth spurt when upgrading to fuzzies. definately give it a try. I went to the pet store and picked through to find the sizes of fuzzies I though would fit her best. first time i was like omg that is to big, but no, it was all good. so bring on the fuzz.

well his head and about 1 inch down got red when he got half the fuzzy in his mouth. I just picked up a fuzzy, I have to feed him today so I will have him try it.

Just fed him and he ate the fuzzy with no problem! His face didn't turn red this time either!

Thank you everyone for your help, I think he will be much happier now!
